Welkom by die agterspeen.

POLICE MINISTRY CONDEMNS IRRESPONSIBLE REPORTING BY THE STAR NEWSPAPER
No instruction to investigating police officers was issued by Minister Mthethwa
PRETORIA – 10 November 2010.  The Ministry of Police has learnt with disgust today’s The Star newspaper’s front page story headlined: “Pupils not off the hook.”  This unbalanced article was written by Nontobeko Mtshali and Baldwin Ndaba.  In the second last paragraph of the story, quote: “(Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa issued an instruction for the boys to be arrested, and this was done,” the source said, adding that political pressure led to the unlawful arrest of the minors.

The Minister dismisses and condemns such unfounded claims with contempt.  We further challenge The Star to prove when and where the instruction was made, and to whom?  For the record, Minister Mthethwa was not in the country from Sunday, 8-10th November, as he attended the 79th INTERPOL General Assembly in Doha, Qatar.  To this end, he has not been briefed nor kept updated on this particular case, which in any way, is not a compulsory and standard practice within the South African Police Service (SAPS) to brief the Minister on each and every investigation, arrest or conviction.

A shockingly and below-par-media practice from the reporters concerned, is the fact that they did not even attempt to verify the claims from their sources (if indeed they do exist) with the Minister’s spokesperson or the Minister himself.  To even attribute such as quote to a faceless source, that on its own raises serious suspicions.  Such unbalanced reporting is not only misleading to the public but further creates exacerbates undeserved trauma to the affected victim.

For good journalism’s sake, the minister is a political head of the SAPS, responsible for steering the policy and legislative direction.  All investigations, irrespective of who is involved are operational matters that are handled by SAPS Head Office, provincial offices as well as local police stations.

The Ministry of Police urges The Star’s editorial and afore-mentioned reporters to refrain from irresponsible media practices, but contribute through objective reporting thus help defeat the scourge of crime.

So bang hulle mis iets sensasioneels. Want o Here, Zille is ons verlosser.
“Asseblief.
So hier is Desmond Bendon se brief, net soos hy dit geskryf het.

Honorable President of South Africa
Mr JZ Zuma
Cloetesville Sports Ground
Stellenbosch
30 October 2010

I have maybe a solution for the xenophobic attacks.
I think the main reason why we as South African complain and have so much to say about the foreigners is because of the following reasons:

1.In the townships business are owned by foreigners.
2.9 out of 10 are owned or run by foreigners/whites.
3.The other 1% will be a South African.
4.Not much is done to inform illiiterate people about how to access government’s funds and start they owned business.
5.Also when the funds are available accessing it is not always easy.
6.We plus you Mr. President fought for democracy and I don’t have to remind you Tata because some of you left South Africa only to be accommodated by this people in an unknown and in a country which you were not born, and we applaud you for that and honor our heroes and heroines.
7.In short and sweet we fought, but at the end of the day who is benefiting just look around you in the townships, fleamarkets and part of the towns.

My solution and….. I don’t represent any political party this is my owned views.
1.I am aware of the growth and the investment that is high on the list of the government and even me I am standing 100% behind it.
2.I think out of 100%…80% should be South Africans black and white and the other 20% foreigners other wise the gap will get much, much bigger and it might be to late for government to stop it in the future.
3.Door to door canvassing might help South Africans to live a better life.

Lastly Mr. President you still lead the country in the right direction…etc. the hot line number to you.

Yours truly,
D. Bendon
